I freedove a lot in Table Rock Lake, Missouri in summer of 2005 and saw a lot of big catfish. Many times I would find them lying on either horizontal or vertical trees. For some reason, they like to get off the bottom and check out the scenery. I saw them as large as maybe 70 lbs. and an easy 4 feet long. Some were flathead catfish and others (the biggest ones) channel catfish.

  • what type of cam do you have , is it ment to be underwater? or is it in some sort of case or something ... i would like to know ... im new to the underwater footage and i just want to do it for fun , while spearfishing . thanks .

  • The Sony series of "Cybershot" cameras which are inexpensive cameras come with a waterproof housing assessory. The housing runs like $80-100 new and the camera maybe $200. If you buy say a Sony Cybershot 5.1 megapixel camera "used" with a housing, you should pay less than half this price. Look for them on places like EBAY.

  • is it dead?O.O

  • No this catfish is alive. They just play dead and motionless when they hang out most of the time. If you look real closely, they is just a small bit of eye movement as the catfish checks out my friend Mike who took this underwater video.

  • Well im sorry but this looks fake to me dude if it was real im sorry but realy it looks fake!!

  • This was probably only something like 15-20 feet below the surface of Tablerock lake. For some reason, catfish like to lie on dead trees or at least they do in Tablerock lake. Similar to many California ocean fish, they will freeze when approached as they think you do not see them. If you put on a face mask and fins, you too can experience the thrill of getting close to a catfish!

  • nice

  • @tuttoz I would definitely recommend the play sport kodak camera for 110 amazing quality in and out of the water..Check my account out for a dive with it. I'd appreciate it

  • @reidy1012 its def real. in louisiana i dive and shoot catfish like that with a spear gun

  • @wilbeckj

thanks ... ill try it ;)

  • @tuttoz You can make a camera housing out of pvc pipe and plexi glass for under $20 which work just as well, and are more mobile than the commercially built ones.

  • @reidy1012 Certainly isn't fake. Flatheads are top predators and there's not much they're afraid of.

I video with a MarCum underwater ice fishing camera in the winter months on the Mississippi. Flats go dormant and I can bounce the camera off their heads without any reaction from them.

    Very cool video!

  • You should use a gopro it is water proff and it is only 200 i use mine for kneeboarding and it works great in the saltwater.

  • alot of fish arent scared when there in thee element

  • its dead

  • thanks for the info , ima have a look at it , i thought they would be a lot more expensive .
