From December 1994 (I think), this would make this clip just after the change to a FOX affiliation. I'm not 100% on that, but it seems right, the logo is changed from the one used from 1988 as CBS 2, its not FOX 2 yet which happened in Fall 95, its obviously just before holidays in the winter, so that puts this logically in the week just after the affiliation switch.

  • Do you have full newscast?

  • Unfortunately, no. Just a bit before this commercial and after it when the tape ran out.

  • SameRetroWindsor, do you have any WJBK weather from the summer of 1995 when it hit record breaking temps in Detroit of 100+ degrees? I remember that mid-July day when it was too hot.

  • I love the "Eyewitness Morning" music! I don't remember it at all - they must not have used it for very long, though I've always been more of a WXYZ watcher, channel 2 usually had interesting stuff on weekend mornings. I also liked the "Eye/witness" logos that they used around this time. The FOX logos of today are too sterile-looking.

  • Yes, that's Micah Materre.

  • The logo did not change right away. It was some time (I believe) in the fall of '95 that they adopted a new, simpler looking "2" logo (similar to what they use now).

  • Oh, yeah. I was 7 years old when those changes came to WJBK.

  • That's how I remember it. A bunch of news changes were made in the months leading up to the switch, including these graphics and this logo. Of course, "Eyewitness Morning" had already been pre-empting CBS This Morning for a few years. But at this point they now had the one-hour "First News" at 4, one-hour "Eyewitness News at 5", then a half hour "Eyewitness News Report" with Huel Perkins which seemed to be aimed at replacing the CBS Evening News. Afterwards, of course, the 11pm moved to 10.

  • Yup! WAGA-TV in Atlanta, switched on that Sunday as well too!
