Conic Sections: Parabolas, Part 1. In this video, I discuss a quick way to roughly sketch a parabola. Nothing about directrix and focus in this video (look in part 2!). I simply find the vertex, x and y intercepts and do a quick graph.

  • and what formula would u use do solve that?

  • could u make a video on how to find the equation of a parabola base on the given information? if not,i have a quick question to ask!! if the problem given:vertex(0,0) and passing through the point (4,6) and it's horizontal axis,how would u find that? and what if given another point and it's vertical axis....PLEASE HELP!!!

  • one small question lets say i have the second form

    y=ax2 + bx +c

    b and c are 2 unkowns i want to determine my virtex by derviation ill end up with

    1= 2ax + b which is an equation of a line and

    0= 2a which is the equation of a point

    i think this point is the vertex am i right ?? and i would also like to know what does the line represents if thats not too much trouble thank u kindly =)
