1980 Sabine Baesz Tassilo Theirbach - East Germany OLYMPIC SP

A great moment of personal disappointment looms for an outstanding East German Pair team that had won the Bronze Medal at the previous World Championships.

Two time European champs (82,83) Silver medalists in 1984.

A half second mis-timing of a simple axel overhead lift took them out of the running. They would later win a WORLD title in 1982, two Silvers (81,83) and another Bronze (84,79). 1984 would bring a similar disappointment, with Tassilo popping a double loop in the short program.
