  • 1:45 WWII started where ?

Thought it was Poland in September 1939.

  • @agwhitaker To resolve any misunderstanding with other posters, World War II is generally accepted to have begun on Sept. 1, 1939 with the invasion of Poland by Germany. The U.S. declared war on Japan and the Axis powers immediately after the attack on Pearl Harbor two years later, on Dec. 7, 1941 (Source: Wikipedia). Until then, our participation in the war was limited to the Lend-Lease Program. Master Chief James Taylor (Ret.), who was interviewed, obviously misspoke.

  • I remember when my dad was PCS'd to Ft. Shafter and he moved us to Aiea Heights in the foothills overlooking Pearl Harbor. It was an ever-present reminder. RIP
