I could be profoundly moved or profoundly move others there but don't have the opportunity. There are soo many people i know who feel like they belong to something bigger including myself so why are we getting downcasted. Such a good idea but even i'm a bit sceptical.

It can seem unfair to be excluding a swathe of possible participants, but please, don't get discouraged. For one thing, you'll still be able to join in all the pre-conference discussion (whether it be here, facebook, twitter, WAYN, or wherever), which can go some way toward giving the eventual delegates food for thought. The 84-86 criteria makes this a more logistically feasible event in terms of overall applicant #s. It's encouraging for us that you feel so strongly about this though.

Seriously seriously bewildered as to why this is for only 25 year old. It's as if they've come to the conclusion that you have to be 25 to be able to have a significant opinion or impact in the world. - Maybe it may be due to having a certain amount of professional credibility and 25 was a good age - but to limit it to a one year window is puzzling. I'm 21 and would be extremely interested in joining up and hope to in 4 YEARS but why do i have to wait.

Hey Dickie,

Thanks for the query. The figure of "25" can come across as a bit arbitrary, and any stress it's given in the press conference would be primarily down to it being a nice round number and soundbite-friendly (as well as, like you say, some implied credibility). Really though, OYW is recruiting delegates born between 84-86(inclusive), which means we're looking at a base of 23-26 year olds by the time the conference rolls 'round in February 08.
