The the cops wanted to fight crime, then they would arrest the criminal bankers.

It doesn't matter if they squash the protests. The protests are a symptom not a force of it's own. You can clamp the pressure relief valve down on a pressure cooker but the pressure will get out, one way or another. Each month with more and more people losing their jobs, the pressure increases.

The weather is also a counter force that contains the pressure as it continues to build.

When this thing goes, it's not going to be pretty. I'm not rooting for it, I'm plugging my ears and cringing.

I voted on those demands and saw no housing on the list.

There are two versions of OWS - the one that is presented, and the one that exists.

The presented OWS provides clues about the goals of those doing the presenting. When I see "housing" as a demand presented though media interviews and screenshots, I take it as a hint of what will be attempted.

Nationalized housing is the only way for them to get paid their price for those toxic assets.

It's really a damn shame how these occupy protests attract some major morons. They are an extreme minority, but it's enough to paint the whole protest in a bad light.

@continuityofliberty I also want to go further, this guy is creating a survey of the protesters, though what individuals may want will not be what they agree on as a group, still, this is a broad indicator of interests, and none of it is about controlling energy or food or transportation.

Maybe some level of communication like kicking fox off the air, though fox violates public license anyway, and many want to end the fed reserve, but thats not a bad idea that I can see.
