Excellent; and so true!
"Behold, He who keeps Israel
Will neither slumber nor sleep."

This song is based from a poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow; "I heard the Bells on Christmas Day". He tragically lost his wife who was accidentally burned, then a year later his eldest son was shot in the Civil War, but he did NOT die. That is probably why the song has a hopeful message.

I think I should restate: This song makes me cry every time, because it sheds a sharp light on the importance of the human connection, and how futile our consumerist behavior seems when put in perspective against it. The original poem was written by a man who lost his daughter and wife in a war at Christmas. In the face of this kind of suffering, he was able to somehow have the faith to overcome his grief and forgive mankind for what he felt was taking his family- and hear the xmas bells again.
This song literally makes me cry every time I hear it. It reminds you how stupid and futile all our crappy consumerist crap is, in the face of true forsaken agony of humans. It teaches to be faithful through the hardest times, hate being so agonizing, and how futile life seems when you go through these trials which I have also lived through.. and in the end.. you will overcome.
