Here is the chance to learn the art of healthy living, naturally.

* Ayurveda, the 5,000-year-old holistic healing tradition from India. According to the principles of ayurveda, everyone has a specific body type known as a dosha.

* There are three doshas: pitta, kapha, and vata, and everyone has a specific balance of doshas which must be addressed in ayurvedic therapy.

*Abhyanga massage helps to calm down the doshas.

Oils : You might do abhyanga massage using ayurveda herbal massage oil, aroma oils, organic sesame oil, coconut oil, etc.

  • Ayurveda in India? you may contact me to get addresses of therapists, nursing homes, spa's and resorts.

  • This massage table is called 'dhroni' and it is used for massage, oil bath and shirodhara, where much oil or liquid is used. one might add a mattress for just abhyangam, esp. if there is pain.

  • This massage is an ayurvedic treatment, one has to be careful to use the right oil for the particular person, as Abhyangam has a heating effect on the body. If you have much heat or pitta conditions, best to use coconut oil. This treatment as a self oleation can be done by oneself, using warmed sesame oil from head to toe. the oil is going into the deeper levels and is reaching after 7 days the bones. Daily self oleation creates immunity.. The oil should be kept for 30-60 min, warm bath follows

  • careful with aroma oils, they cannot be used for body massage. Use only authentic oils. The basic oils are 1. Sesame oil - best basic oil, 2. coconut oil - cooling and for people with sensitive skin or not-dry skin 3. Mustard oil - has heating action use only if body is very cold, do not use on head.

Aroma oil has to be used with caution as it has a burning effect, it is NOT required in Abhyangam.
