  • The music is very nice

  • Thanks.

  • The characters I wrote or copied are not purely Pei Xiu's; they are not intended to be copied directly by beginners. They are mixed from different models which serve as samples of references such as the stroke orders, positions of strokes, and etc.

  • That is well said. Although I don't assume anyone was going to, I discourage people from copying current people. If Josh copies Pei Xiu, SokudoJutsu copies him, and someone copies SokudoJutsu, Pei Xiu's style among current people would gradually deteriorate. If you want to learn Pei Xiu's writing, copy Pei Xiu. If you want to learn Ouyang Xun's writing, copy Ouyang Xun. In other words, 取法乎上,僅得其中;取法乎中,僅得其下

  • Thank you for your explanations.

To pattern after the first-rate (scholar, performer, etc.) implies that one would end up a second fiddler. ( 取法乎上,僅得其中 )

    求其上,得其中;求其中,得其下,求其下,必敗。

  • Yes, that makes perfect sense. Thank you for your concern. Your comment just came out of nowhere, so i was wondering, why you bumped in.

  • Matthias:

When you got time, please refer to the new comments 001Asoer and I have added.

    Thank you.

  • Copying the ancient models has been the proper and traditional way to learn Chinese calligraphy since the ancient times. Even now calligraphy teachers in China usually do not ask their students to copy their samples. (If they do, it's for a period of time.) They urge their students to use the ancient models which have been adopted for thousands of years.

That's why I include free download links for calligraphy models in similar styles to each video.

  • In learning Chinese calligraphy, we copy from the ancient models first, rather than using more recent models or samples written by others or me.

  • You may send me the links as before. I will also be happy to refer you to good Kai Shu models by Ouyang Xun, Pei Xiu, or Liu Gongquan for you to download and copy. In learning Chinese calligraphy, we copy from the ancient models first, rather than using more recent models or samples. This is the proper and traditional way to learn Chinese calligraphy since the ancient times.
