Dave checks out reports that the Fluke 87V Multimeter is susceptible to GSM mobile phone radiation and can be bricked. He puts his 87V on the line to find out. Can he kill it?

  • Why is it buzzing?

  • @333xan45 GSM can modulation sensitive microphone signals. Very common.

  • Why probes on the wireless test, but not on the cell test?

  • Hi!

Go to basement and do this test again. If network signal is low, mobile uses more power to provide good quality of connection. More power = stronger effects :)

  • Love the persistence. Thanks Dave

  • You have the same mobile as me, i didn't think anyone else had an e71 as i seem to be the only one that bought one round my area.

  • I don't know if someone raised this as a matter of fact but when you cut to the group of DMM's the Fluke 87v is switched to Vdc instead of Vac. And it only appears to crash on the DC setting. It would be interesting to see of the other meters also crash on Vdc. Also it is interesting to note that part of the FCC passing on the device requires all electronic devices be able to accept interference while not causing RF interference. It would be nice to retest with all on the same setting.

  • ´´wow´´

"The physiology and evolution of pain is well understood"

We know nothing, and any attempts to learn more teach us how little we know. ask anyone who knows alot about a subject. The more you know, the less you find out you really do know....

Troll -- What is a conversation about pain doing on an EE vlog? its like going to the dentist to discuss your back problems.

  • @EEVblog pain is an artificial sensation...? : ) sentences like that should perhaps make you realize how hastily you act to keep this away. it's hardly from a position with a sound foundation.

I ask again, if pain is so trivial and well understood howcome a robot can retract its hand in response to damage without feeling pain and run away from a dangerous situation without feeling fear..

I invite you to think about how a robot could feel pain.

I'm not like the others. I'm the one who knows.

  • @DanFrederiksen I don't know where to start poking holes in your ridiculous "brilliantly" posed question! ROFL! The physiology and evolution of pain is well understood, go do some research before deluding yourself. Pain is an artificial sensation, it's actually a response to cellular damage. Another classic theist argument mistake. I won't waste another second on this rubbish.

  • @EEVblog it's very specific and absolutely brilliantly posed. you just don't like where it logically leads you. you want me to be some easy target like a poorly educated woman from midwest usa so you can dismiss me without thinking. that's the same dawkins pathetically does. pick easy targets to flatter himself. so he doesn't have to deal with sticky things like Isaac Newton beings strongly christian. or the impossibility of pain in a physical system. I used to be an atheist too. try thinking.
