Our number one priority, over the last 10 years, has been supporting young Australians with disabilities, their families and their carers through the Sony Foundation Childrens Holiday Camps. Lending a helping hand to over 500 Australian families in desperate need of respite, the Sony Camps are hosted by Year 11 and 12 students who give up time from their school holidays to care for developmentally delayed and disabled children from their local community. Responsible for their young camper charger for four days, 24 hours a day, the students learn quickly about the everyday challenges and demands involved in caring for a child with special needs. Both the teenage carers, their parents and the campers and their families, report the camps are a life changing experience for everyone involved. There are currently 35 schools participating in the program throughout Australia.
