  • Wonderful video! This is one of my favorite carousels . The carvings are Illion's best...a couple of them are signed. Who sings the songs in this video?

  • Incubus

  • Nice minagerie on the carousel. Does this one have a working band organ or is it just prerecorded music?

  • It has a band organ.

  • The last time I seen the carousel was back around 2003 and it was in pretty bad shape. I am surprised Six Flags would let such a valuable ride go. I heard that the original flower horse carving is now in the Six Flags corporate offices. The horse is worth over 100,000 K. Six Flags is more concerned about roller coasters and they are putting all their money into building new ones. I guess a gentle beautiful ride like their carousel doesn't mean much to them :-(

  • @carouselgal Six Flags has not done a very good job with the maintenance on the Carousel.

Went with some friends this year (July or early August 2011). Paint was pealing and chipped all over it. The platform where the band organ used to be is there but the band organ is gone completely. Many light bulbs are burned out. The carousel is in bad shape.

  • Back when Riverside Park owned the carousel it did have a working band organ. Now they use prerecorded band organ music. It is not the same. I remember when this carousel was in serious disrepair back in the early 1980s. All the horses were restored in the mid 1980s. It was moved from it' s original pavilion in the park (down near the Batman Coaster) to the entrance of the park, a new pavilion was built for it. It is a wonderful ride!
