I originally started this song with the intention of it being relatively simple, with just a cello, guitar, and bass. It kinda morphed and took on a different form as I was writing it. This is one of those few exceptions to the stereotype that the vast majority of Christmas songs are very happy-go-lucky, and I find it interesting to wonder: when Jesus was just a kid, nine or ten years old, did Mary have any idea what He would do in twenty-something years, or the impact it would have on generations upon generations into the future? Just something to wonder about...
