This terrible tragedy happened in Skagit County Wa. The scene was on Cedardale Rd. just south of Old Highway 99. The date was 12/21/07. An SUV driven by a 21 year old male who chose to drive intoxicated crossed the center line and hit head on with this white Buick Centery. It saddens me to report that the 80 year old driver of the Buick died at the scene. The driver of the roled over SUV was transported to Skagit Valley Hospital and then airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle Wa. He sustained severe injuries as a result of choosing not to use his seatbelt. If the 21 year old over comes his injuries he may be faced with vehicular homicide charges for his choice to drive while intoxicated resulting in the loss of a human life. A very sad situation. A loss of an elder family member just days before Christmas. A young man and his family changed for ever if he survives his injuries. So many consequences for the choice to drive drunk without a seatbelt. :o(

  • @Karnage542 Trust me I understand your felings I lost someone I loved so much. that was 3 years ago and Im still shattered and hurt and angry.

  • My heart breaks for the gentlemans family.

  • Forgiveness isn't for the benefit of the offender, it's for the victims ...

  • @Karnage542 Sorry for your lost, I know how it is!

  • I've done a lot of stupid things in my life, but driving drunk isn't one of them. It's only fair that I be the only person put at risk due to my stupidity. Risking the life of others is not only stupid, it's criminal negligence at best and downright homicide at worst. I feel for the kid and his family, as a good portion of his life is gone either way, but the ultimate truth is that his decision to drive drunk took the life of another, so he needs to face those consequences.

  • Who cares the sun will eventually swallow the Earth when it turns into a red dwarve if we are lucky enough to survive the collision that the Milky Way has with Andromeda. Its sad that people die but being bitter and angry only causes more suffering. The man lived a long full life and you should celebrate his life instead of being angry over his death. In 5 billion years every piece of humanity will be cooked and destroyed so make the most of your 80 years.

     ;-)

  • Hey I know this has been a year since you said this, threefoureight (badge number?) but yes, troopers refer to these as CRASHES and not accidents - you are EXACTLY right!!!

  • Why do drinking and driving is lethal and can be 2nd degree murder but the hunting industry knowingly created large deer herd for hunting opportunities and knowing damn well human lives will be lost from Deer Vehicle Accidents but they are not held liable. Strange.

  • Does anyone ever think about Deer Vehicle Accidents and the fact that the hunting industry is creating large deer herd for recreational purpose thus causing deer vehicle accident in the fall which is hunting season?. DVA claims hundreds of lives every year yet strangely for the many years we had hunting DVA's still continues to climb. Please watch the video response if you have been in a Deer Vehicle Accident or has lost a loved one.
