Palm Beach author fears for his safety Newschannel 5

Laurence Leamer, author of NY Times Bestseller 2009 "Madness Under The Royal Palms" has been advised to hire personal protection. The Palm Beach police chief reported that his life may be in danger. Leamer is no stranger to controversy, having written books on the Kennedy Family, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Johnny Carson and other celebrities. But this time, he may have gone too far, some believe.

He decided to focus on Palm Beach, the exclusive playground to the world's richest and most powerful people. Some of the names in the book include Donald Trump, Fred Keller (who murdered his wife, Rose), the Lauder Empire, the royal family and many others. Leamer paints a less than flattering picture of the divided Jewish community as well as the elitist WASPs who rule the roost. Madness is a battle of the elite, and certainly many of the book's subjects are none too pleased with the revelation of their activities, affairs and vapid ways.

Since the book was released in January 20, 2009, Leamer has been run off the road by an SUV, threatened, yelled at and blackballed from the Island's most exclusive clubs.

They are circling the wagons, especially since the Madoff scandal now puts the focus on the biggest group of investors -- the fellow members of Madoff's Jewish club, where they implicitly entrusted Madoff with--in some cases--all of their assets.
