I think people are late for opera (now that will never be as good as in the old golden age) but not necessarily for ballet. There are great dancers today, too, but no great opera singers or conductors.

@Pearlaceous agree she is fantastic a gem among the gems of her generation.

Sizova's variation really is miraculous - steely strength allied with that amazing, light, high jump. She was a wonderful dancer.

She was my instructor at the Kirov Academy in DC. She was still amazing even at an older age. Still kicking and swoon... those arches.
Thanks a lot for this video it is really amazing... there are many moments on my life when I realize I was born too late for many things I like, when it comes to ballet and other less important things... watching this video is one of those moments, now that I´m old enough to travel by myself, there are no more Sizovas, Plisetskayas or Komlevas dancing or Nureyevs or Solovievs today... those days are gone!

Today’s top-flight ballerinas would envy Alla Sizova’s a la seconde en dedans turns…working leg higher than ninety degrees, and rock solid. And what a jump! I believe Sizova’s brilliant career was cut short by a back injury, from which she never fully recovered.
