Monolithic!! Miss Verrett was to mezzos what Nilsson was to sopranos...ish.

I love her so much. Out of all the ones I've seen, she is probably the best in my opinion. Her high note is so...strong and visceral. I love her performance and the control she has over her voice!

CHILLS!! There are no words to describe the greatness of this! Only actions!

great performance of an aria that is absolutely brutal. God I miss the years when my dad and I would attend permformances together. Thanks, a great post .

The BBC did this fantastic portrait of Ms. Verrett in 1971 (other clips are on YouTube) and a similar one on Beverly Sills about the same time (1972?). Both are terrific records of singers at the height of the powers. I wonder if there are any other similar BBC shows from the same era featuring other singers. Based on the quality of the portraits of Sills and Verrett, it would be great to see similar portraits of other greats of that era.

I am devastated, Her passing has really affected me RIP Ms Verrett. I would have loved to have laid my eyes on her at least once. She has given me so much, and through her recorded legacy hopefully she will continue to do so. To her: THANK YOU a million times

The definitive interpretation for me. No one else gets there.
