Bass riffs

For some reason people don't believe that I was playing this after only playing bass for one year. You can definitely tell that this is a novice bassist by how sloppy it is played and I honestly can't understand why people think I'm "OMG SO GOOD FOR 1 YEAR!!1!!". I'm a lot better now (been paying 2 years now).

I have been playing bass for a little over a year. Some riffs I made up. Listen closely to the droning low notes being played.

Hey guys.The timing is pretty off and it's flashy and fast but overall from a musical standpoint it's not very good. I've since gotten a lot better. If you can't tell that i'd only been playing for a year from these videos then it just shows that you're a novice. The technique is bad, the timing is off, and the riffs aren't really that great.

ONLY A YEAR!! Nice playing dude i've almost been playing for a year, and im not quite that good yet but my teachers had me focus strongly on techniqe no offence or anything but you techniqe slipped slightly throught the fast playing but it still sounded amazing so nice work!! :)

I agree the technique is sloppy I'm surprised that people don't see this. This video really isn't that good and i can definitely see someone learning this stuff in a year since a lot of it isn't even on time.

And i have a few tips if you wana be good at an instrument really quickly.

1.) always have it near, or in my case next to you. In the room you are most keep it there, i pick up my bass every 5 mins and have a lil jam session then back down. and it works

2.)Start with covering songs, then move onto making your own riffs, then study a few scales, and move onto improvising until you play that instrument without thinking ^.^ . Then try to make up your own techniques or styles of technique, FUN

I completely disagree. I've been playing something like three years no - i dont know a single scale, nor can I read music. I've learnt by playing and learning (mostly) Red Hot Chili Peppers songs, and without sounding too cocky, I think I'm quite good.

All I'm saying is I dont believe that you need to sit and learn scales and drill techniques to be a good player.

3 days after i got my first bass I started to learn Hysteria - Muse, took me 30 minutes to perfect it. Deanne The Arsonist - Atreyu, about 1hr 30mins. Wrote lyrics for the first time, took me 30 - 40 minutes to write enough for a full song, with no prior experience or knowledge. Everybody loves it. I'm playing bass for one and a half year now, but I'm usually practicing about 3-4 hours a day and this would be too easy to play for me. btw i'm playing progressive metal..

I've been playing for 2 years and I can't play like that yet. I might be better at timing than you were back when you made this, but I can't play that many notes that quickly yet. I also can't really come up with any of my own bass lines yet. Hopefully that will come.
