http://www.scene-stealers.com Eric Melin from Scene-Stealers and guest host Aaron Weber from Transbuddha review the new Zack Snyder movie Watchmen, an adaptation of the graphic novel masterpiece by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons. They arent afraid to tackle such heady topics as fetishized violence and superhuman strength from costumed adventurers who are supposed to be portrayed as having no superpowers (save Dr. Manhattan of course!), a gross simplification of the comics complicated themes, a shocking lack of subtlety, whether the heavily stylized look was the right choice for the material, whether one viewing is enough to balance the spectacle vs. the storytelling, and Erics failed strategy of trying really hard to resist reading the book again right before seeing the movie. This is an emotional, honest look at a film that both reviewers had been anticipating for years and years, and one still refuses to give up on, even when all his instincts tell him he should do just that.

  • I don't think it would ever be possible to have a better Watchmen film than this one.

    Snyder did it.

  • this movie might of sucked to some people if they expected a cliche superhero movie with no storyline. But it wasnt. You had to listen carfully and pay attention. It is a story about society reacting to superheros. Not a superhero movie.

  • you guys are right...and please tell to your friend to stop saying fu**** or sh**** thanks

  • The movie fails. It's just violence porn. This is stuff is popular because our world is ever increasingly a-moral and godless. The Snyders and Michael Bays of the world, in their cocaine-induced literature-pimping glory, are making so much money from this bilge because people have lost objective reasoning. How very post modern. Btw, speaking to the 'review host', cussing up a storm isn't a legitimate replacement for actual content and intellectual discussion. Try harder and have higher standards

  • that fat fuck doesn't know what his talking about, you know why he wants to see it again? BECAUSE THE MOVIE FUCKING ROCKS, now the people that are hardcore fans and actually know their shit and the graphic novel they are probably right saying it wasn't well adapted, but as a movie, 90 out 100 people that just walked to the theater without knowing anything would tell you that it was awesome

  • I hate superhero movies and comics. i MUCH prefer the more.. superhuman immortal type "heroes" that are darker.. or even with scott pilgrim series.. i just hate the whole Spiderman, Superman, Batman is OKAY... but i think you get it. BTW I highly recomend the Umbrella Academy books. I hope THOSE are made into movies. comic book movies are always great to watch

  • With the Director's Cut they filled in a lot of the elements that the theatrical version seemed to be lacking in. Over all though, I disagree...the movie held to theme of the Comic Book in a solid way. We can nit-pick that not enough subtlety was used concerning the relationship between the Comedian and his daughter, or that the heroes were over-powered (and in my opinion they weren't), but this was/is/willbe the best attempt at putting Watchmen on the screen.

  • @SceneStealers Wrong. Even with all the changes to the plot (yes, EVEN the ending), every aspect of the movie hit the nail right on the head.

  • @thedarthman1138 If he liked Spider-Man 3, all his credibility is gone. And I'm a Spider-Man fan.

  • i saw this movie without reading the novel = awesome

i read the novel = AWESOME!!!!

i saw the movie after i read the novel = sleep....

  • good review. i totally agree with you guys on this one. they should have never made watchmen into a movie. it wasn't meant to be a movie, also it doesn't make sense as a movie.
