WEINER AND LANCMAN TO JOIN FORCES TO PROTECT SYNAGOGUES AND OTHER NON-PROFIT INSTITUTIONS
In light of the recent tragic shooting at the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle and a suspicious fire outside a Queens synagogue, tomorrow Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-Brooklyn and Queens) and Democratic District Leader Rory Lancman will join forces to protect non-profit institutions in Queens, including synagogues, yeshivas and Jewish community centers.
While Rep. Weiner continues to push Department of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff to release $25 million in already-appropriated funds to protect non-profit organizations, Democratic District Leader and State Assembly candidate Rory Lancman will call on New York State to create a similar state program, offering grants to local organizations and institutions identified as potential targets of terrorism.
