Another very unknown and obscure little ditty that only an artist as great as Streisand can dust off, rework, and transform into a vocal masterpiece. However, I too agree that it would not have fit the 'flow' of Barbra's contemporary and funky Butterfly album. But thank God it finally surfaced on JFTR.
Just lovely. Between Stresisand, Sondheim (my God my hero) and Kander & Ebb, how can ya lose? All amazing. Sometimes I sit back and think how these songs just come out of a writer's (music or lyrical) or singer's psyche. Where does it come from? It seems so easy, the final product, but the work must be so meticulous to find perfection..changing genre to genre. I think Bernadette Peters is the most amazing Sondheim singer, best interpreter, but Streisand does nothing badly (TRUMPETS part of duo).
Great post...no, I don't think this would have been a good mix with the others on the Butterfly LP:..I also like the photo.....from the classical series??......how I love that one too....oh well, I like them all! Barbra rocks!
I think she is the only artist who has so many recordings that no one else can touch. This being one of them.

"Who needs trumpets?" Not Barbra, to be sure. She uses her voice like a trumpet and Other Musical Instruments. Trully astounding.
