The singularity is not just biology merging with technology, it's what we call the intelligence explosion, or event horizon in our prediction models beyond which we cannot see. Biology merging with technology won't automatically mean the singularity is here. After all, that has already happened, there are people walking around today with pacemakers and brain implants.

that's when singularity (biologic functions merging with information technologies) becomes convenient or compelling. because computers will inevitably become more powerful than us, and will continue to surpass, we will understandably and willingly commit to this singularity.
look up "Ray Kurzweil" he's the yoda of information technologies, he really helped me out

I guess something that should be used as a measure of intelligence for any advanced AI that we create, is for it to have the ability to reason about any decision it makes and for it to be able to convey that reasoning to us humans in a way we can understand.
