I think Peter Norman definitely deserved more credit than he got during all this , because whereas Smith and Carlos were protesting what was goin' on in their own country, Norman, as a foreigner, stood in solidarity with them wearing the same patchthat Smith and Carlos were wearing. I think that was brave on his part

Actually it was John Carlos who was the first to break the 20-second-barrier.
He ran 19.92, September 12th 1968 in Echo Summit, California with a 1.9 m/s wind speed

I was fortunate to know Peter Norman. Fantastic guy. Had many a beer with him before and after, and even raced him. Gives me chills to see him roll over the top of John Carlos. Norman was on fire.
