Pastor Mark Driscoll sums up the basic differences between Calvinism and Arminianism.

God predestined this video clip to be taken from the broader context of a sermon entitled "Predestination" which can be found at http://www.marshillchurch.org/media/religionsaves/predestination

  • If the Calvin view is "correct", if so, then why would there ANY desire or need whatsoever to live or believe a certain way? Either I am one of the "elected" or I am not, I cant do anything about it. I believe in a more loving God than that. Jesus died for ALL, not the Calvin view view of a few.

  • Not very wise to say you are on John Calvin's "team" since he was a proponent of the persecution of Christians just because they disagreed theologically.

In the days of King Edward VI of England, Calvin wrote a letter to Lord Protector Somerset and urged him to put Anabaptists to death: “These altogether deserve to be well punished by the SWORD, seeing that they do conspire against God, who had set him in his royal seat”

Eerily reminiscent of Muslim extremist of our day.

  • he's one of the many important reformers , and before someone asks me, no i am not a Lutheran, Calvinist, or Arminianist, have a blessed day.

  • , Psalms 35:5 was the scripture martin luther quoted before his death, which ended in a stroke at age 62, the main thing that christians need to understand, is that even know some of his teaching and theology wasnt correct, he did love God and stood up for what Christ taught, the study of his reformation and alot can be studied, but not through some biasd website(s) , through correct books and study material, he died a saved man and believed Christ was our salvation, thats what is important

  • we focus too much on these guys backgrounds and personal mistakes in there walk in life, we never take the time to study guys, such as martin luther and john calvin's theology and teachings and how these reformers stood up when others didnt, granted i dont agree with all of there teachings and beliefs, but whether you to agree or disagree, they were christians and played a huge part in different christian reform movements, and sorry your not gonna find that on google or wikipediav

Life under Calvins reign of terror in Geneva was no different than the life of a Jew in a German Concentration Camp.

Calvin had a man tortured for over a month for leaving him a note on his pulpit calling him a "hypocrite" then had him beheaded. Not only so, after kicking his wife & children out of their home, he had it set on fire & watched it burn down.

  • John Calvin the greatest teacher outside of the Bible? Show me a scholar who isn't Baptist or Presbyterian that claims that, then i may be inclined to take this seriously. You mentioned Luther, did you know that he and Calvin are in direct contention with this subject? He isn't Arminian either. John Calvin too often used human logic to explain God's actions, which led to double-predestination, etc. You should know that you can't explain anything about God, unless it is revealed in scripture.
