The 170mph is an estimate from several r/c pilots at the field (2 of them jet pilots), and also a direct comparison to Sakis' other plane which we clocked at some 147mph. This thing screams. I must admit, it got ahead of me a couple of times. Had to back off on the throttle once ; ) But it was alright. I should have handed the transmitter to Sakis for the landings though.
A Jett engine (manufacturer of high-performance piston engines) will soon be bolted to the front. Sakis and I think this will push it into the +200mph range.
Nice job, Sakis. Thanks for letting me fly it.
Thanks for the nice comments guys. Controlling it is pretty hard I guess, but the more you practice the easier it gets. The really hard part is the constant turning due to high speed. It's easy to get disoriented and think the plane is going away from you instead of towards. Then, it's easy to screw up.
