MCCAIN: "[...] And I'd like to mention offshore drilling if I could. My friends, we have to drill offshore. We have to do it! Oil executives say within a couple years we could be seeing results from it. So why not do it? We need to do it, and I was pleased to note that, in case you missed it, when the President announced that we were lifting the Federal moratorium on offshore drilling that the price of oil went down ten dollars a barrel. So it does, if America can show as we move into this energy independent era, that we have significant oil and gas reserves and we aren't dependent on foreign oil, it will have an effect on the price of a barrel of oil. So it can have a beneficial effect in the short term, as well as the long term."

It would actually take about 10 years, and offshore US is 3% of global market. It's not US oil, its up for bid to everyone in the world. Even at best it might save a few cents a gallon ten years from now. But OPEC will easily offset what we produce by reducing the same amount which was produced.

I am from the great state of Louisiana. We are the leaders in offshore drilling. we also have a receding coastline. I know it brings alot of jobs. I working the the offshore industry for years but if the cost for of cheap gas is telling me that my hometown wont be here for my grandchildren to grow up in then i say f**k that. Its bad enough the gulf coast has to deal with hurricanes. Now we have to deal with over jealous politicians destroying our communities. Its is plain and simple. Its WRONG

McFool is out of his mind! He saids that in a couple of years we will see resuls from off-shore drilling, that is a lie. His new campaign add that states that Sen. Obama is to blame for high gas prices is a lie, not long ago McCain said himself that the high gas prices have been a "30 year" problem in the making. Obama is for off-shore drilling but only in the area that are already set aside for that, Obama is for nuclear power only if it can be done safely. McCain, you lie at a drop of a hat!
