At an astronomy meeting in January 2008, I stopped by the SETI booth to chat with my friend Dr. Jill Tarter about their new telescope array funded by gazillionaire Paul Allen.

Note: I wanted to edit out Jill's slip of the tongue, but couldn't because it would have messed up the flow of what she was saying. :-)

  • Good stuff Phil.

  • Thanks!

  • ...didn't notice anyone emotionally disabled in the video. I did, however, notice a detachment from reality in your comment and your channel, michaelstmark. Keep up the exhaustive investigative research and maybe one day you'll prove men never reached the moon. Then what? Denial of the holocaust?

  • Jarrah, your fixation with Dr Plait and the moon hoax is at an unhealthly level. I suggest you either get over it, or get some help. Big time.

  • 42 :) i wouldnt love that number as much as if more people had read those books.

  • "SETI Booth?" That's like saying, "Biology Booth." There is no universal SETI search. SETI is a science and nobody has a monopoly on that. What you meant was the SETI Institute Booth.

    BTW, it's DR. Griffin.

  • Silly Effort to Investigate.

  • when will you cowards start to ask for sub 50m resolution images from the japanese and chinese probes currently orbiting the moon?

Be suspicious until the images are delivered then we can say that for sure, there are no alien artifacts on the back side of the moon.

  • Jill and Phil....sorry just my juvenile sense of humerus

  • "goldfish in a bowl who have never experienced fresh air". Quite the opposite in fact. By studying science and the surrounding universe, are we not completely immersing ourselves in the wonders around us? Surely we would rather have this than the secular paranoid and bitter negativity of many (if not most) conspiracy theorists who have themselves completely lost touch with reality.

  • "Perhaps you'd like to explain why NASA (by their own admission) cannot tell if those photos are of stars, nebula or galaxies?"

I don't know the specifics of your claim, can you provide a source for it? I can imagine that because the magnitudes of the stars in the UV spectrum were unknown at the time, the information in those UV photos being wholey new, that there would have been trouble identifying what certain celestial bodies were. Of course this is further proof yet of their validity.

  • "though of course like goldfish in a bowl who have never experienced fresh air"

And yet, as evidenced by this video, Phil does seem to be getting out and about, much more than you are st mark.

  • michaelstmark: If anyone is displaying supreme arrogance it is you ...by your condescending statement "they cannot know this". You intimate that you have privileged, undisclosed information involving a moon hoax that the rest of us are too ignorant to realize. Lo and behold, if we all had your intellect and insightfulness, how far could we see?
