  • You have a mistaken idea of an accompanist's role. Accompaniment makes tremendous demands on a pianist's musical sensitivity. Excellent accompanists are rare. The accompanist's part here doesn't let her show her musicianship -- because she doesn't have any! She plays like a klutzy robot. BTW, if you want to hear a great accompanist (as well as a great soloist), go to Oscar Shumsky playing Tartini's Devil Trill. The pianist is the late Milton Kaye
