with a little programmable microcontroller magic you could make it start/stop gradually and make it compensate for differences in the motors and mechanics (counting rotations per track). that way it could go full speed and stop without flipping, and go at full speed in a millimeter precise straight line. better start learning avr programming!

Sorry for those of you who have been asking questions on this, it's an old project that I haven't had time to work on, I am currently working on a website and will post more info on this project in the next couple of months, thanks for the positive reviews though.

First off, at the moment I have no idea how fast its capable of, but I will likely run it at the slower speed so it doesn't flip over when stopping. For cost, kind of hard to tell, I've been dragging out the project and not keeping track of budget...I would guess $500 or so?
