This is another stick that Laga is attracted to. Like Nicky's school mate Luke Djamanggi, Laga considers this instrument as "professional" quality - not sure what that means exactly and probably some of the meaning is lost in translation from one language to another. But it is just interesting to observe 2 kick-arse yirdaki players make the same comment.
Nicky was a yirdaki player for Yothu Yindi until his untimely and mysterious passing last year. He was a good fella and a mate, hope I don't offend anyone by mentioning his name here, it is about 1 year now since he passed over to the other world. RIP gaminyarr, we'll never forget you.
Oh, hey. I didn't know Nicky was already off to his next adventure. Even with the passage of time, I send a salute of gratitude for the vids of his playing and blessings to wherever he is dancing now.
And as I'm making my way through these vids with Adam...another WOW...for both the vibrations in the playing and the visual treats of the artworks.
