If a kid curses it doesn't mean that the parent is the one who taught them. If a parent makes a big deal out of a child saying a random curse word, the child is more likely to say it again. Nowhere in this video does the parent tell the child to curse. Young kids pick up everything, they're like sponges. Using a swear word doesn't mean that someone is behaving ignorantly. Swear words AREN'T needed to gain respect, but the did the parent say that? No. She said not to let anyone call her dumb.

Last time I checked, people with even moderate communication skills were capable of teaching their kids respect of themselves and others WITHOUT endorsing less than stellar behavior or language. Its unfortunate when some people think behaving ignorantly goes hand in hand with "respect". There are more civil and intelligent ways to ensure people respect you. I didn't hear the parent telling them to say what they did. What I did hear was an adult telling them not to let someone call them dumb. Last time I checked, that's teaching them to respect themselves and to make sure that other people don't disrespect them.
