Windows key gets stuck and each key-press activates a windows shortcut on the screen. An annoying FEATURE that has yet to be resolved in any meaningful way. Hopefully this will shed more publicity at the bug and get resolved quicker.

  • this is a reproducible issue. When will MS address this?

  • My issue:

    1) remote desktop (mstsc) into another machine, in my case a windows Vista, Windows 7 or server 2008 box.

    2) use the windows+L key to logg off, and then log in, several times.

    3) minimize the RDP session.

    4) hit the 'e' key.

If you have explorer window pop up, this indicates a stuck Windows button. It's doing exactly what it should if i was pressing Windows+'e' to launch an explorer window. You have to then press the windows button a few times to release it in software in the OS.

  • Which version of the OS are you using? And does this only happen when using Remote Desktop?

  • Windows 7.

  • oh man, this issue has been driving me mad for years now... I still can't find a fix!

  • God I have this on Vista 64-bit as well. My wireless keyboard is pretty old (from 2004) and I was starting to think it was the cause of the problem.
