This was the first music video by The Difference. It was shot on location in Simon's back garden during the freezing cold Winter of 1997. The idea for the video came to us during our rehearsel a few hours before - when Sim said "Let's shoot a music video".
It was never intended to be in black and white, but the camera did not like the cold.
The video is a rare glimpse of The Difference in their heyday (or should i say Hair Day), when looking like Slash (Guns and Roses guitarist) was a commodity you could not buy.
The video footage was recovered recently and restored, though you will notice that there is unfortunate damage/distortion throughout the latter part of the video. As usual, we would like to claim that this damage/distortion is an artistic effect - but we all know the truth.
The special guests you see in the background, waving their hands, are Brian May and Rodger Taylor (The guitarist and drummer from Queen), Bono (The singer from U2), and a small glimpse of Paul McCartney (The Beatles), as well as two of the Spice Girls (Baby Spice and Ginger). They often came to our gigs and did not want to give up an opportunity to be in our video.
Off camera - Simons Mum is serving hot soup out of the kitchen window in order for us to fend off hypothermia and frost-bite. There were also baked potatoes that were thrown at us at regular intervals - this was not as food, but as a warning from the neighbours.
In case your glasses are not as good as they used to be - here is the line up:
Vocals-Keyboards : Davey
Drums : Sim
Guitar : Andy

The Music - Callin Card
-----------------------
The track Calling Card you can hear on this video was recorded by The Difference at La Rocka Studios over two days in August 1997. The La Rocka studios are snugly located under a railway bridge in South London, meaning that every 4 minutes a train would pass by and we had to stop recording. The recording was multi-tracked on to magnetic tape which curled itself round a reel and spun around really fast.
