An addendum I would like to offer: The tighter the collar is screwed on, the slower the flow rate. The looser it is on, the faster it will flow.

It is usually good to start out slowly and advance it as the baby gets older and more mature.

A rule of thumb is that if the baby is really drooly or gulpy, it is too fast. If they are working hard and not getting much, it might be too slow.

The advantage of a valved nipple, like the Pigeon or Haberman, is that it allows the infants to compress it to extract the milk themselves. It doesn't work for everyone. What some people have been doing is using the valve from the Pigeon in the Dr. Brown's nipple and they've had good results with that combination.

Squeezing works well when you sync it with the baby's suck/ swallow. I feel like squeezing is like a waltz, both partners have to have the same rhythm and it works well.

I found this particular bottle difficult for my son to feed.  My son was born with a bilateral cleft lip and palate. What I found to be the easiest for him was the Dr. Brown bottles. All I did was increase the size of the hole by making cross slits in the nipple. By doing this it drips very easily. Another bottle i found to be very helpful is the Gerber or Evenflo classic bottles. The bottle is very soft plastic and is easily squeezed to help the flow of milk.
