Autism IS NOT fake, and this child is Autistic. He's nonverbal and still in diapers and over the age of 2o and you think he's faking!? People are misdiagnosed with autism and bipolar but both are very real, I have AS which is a form of autism and it's affected me grealty the second people meet me they mention the word autism. this us one of the clearest cases of autism, when you see children like this who are on the lower functioning end of the spectrum its very apparent that

i think he is playing hide and seek with you, since some people with autism have trouble with therory of mind , I think like a two year old he is assuming since he cant see you you cant see him, not all behaviors are because of autism some are just Jamey, thats what my mom said about me, but she uses my name Casey and the word Aspergers instead, because i have AS

I do that! It is very comfortable, and calming! :)

@kgaccount he would punch himself until someone handed him the pillow? really? did you try negative reinforcement, such as whipping them yourself or simply allowing them tp continue? im trying to find real people with ACTUALLY autistic kids so i can learn about it. i have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, so i already know its completely fake, i think autism is too, but i want real people with real stories to learn for real.

@Danny66679 May I ask where you bought the weighted blanket from? My 4 year old daughter has some Sensory Prossising Issues and it is realy hard for her to sit still and they have found in her class room at her school that if she has somthing heavy to put on her lap she will sit still better and not flip out from the noise and has better attition span with it.
Thanks=)
Why does he have a chew rope around his neck for? I'm curious and wondering.

@Shoes454 For sensory purposes. It also serves as a pro active behavioral intervention to SIB (self injurious behavior) In essence, the more things he can do for himself to comfort himself, the less likely he will engage in self abuse.

if he likes it why do you take it away from him

@mettabee To prompt him to do it again. It's a huge milestone for him. For years, he wouldn't touch the pillow. He'd look at it, and punch himself, until someone gave it to him. I'm happy he's learning. He's improving. I love to see him do things that he didn't do for so long.

Yes, in fact the school just ordered one for his program and we have one at home. It definately helps on most days....just one thing to add to the grab bag of helpful interventions to keep him grounded....
