concidering I own both the grans am and the ford, Yes and no. The Ford is faster off the line because I can launch in 3rd gear. I have to slip the clutch pretty good to keep the tires from just smoking though. From a roll they are pretty even.

i have a 96 chevy 2500 ext cab with long bed and it pulls ass and it sounds like a beast i have beat a grand am too and it didnt take much to beat it but my truck isnt stock either but i test drove a 99 grand am gt the other day and i do see what you mean about how it has power all it does is take off fast in my truck i can be doing 80 and i give it more gas and it pins me to the seat so i think im sticking with my chevy with 250,000 miles but going strong sucking up all the gas

its not all about torque for somthing heavier like a truck or older muscle yes you need alot more but you still need horsepower to for your vehicle will not accelerate as fast when it gets goin due to low hp

i think cause those big ass disel truck have a turbo charger but they are met to creat torque not really Horsepower but it was a funny race lol

I just bought a 99 grand am gt ram air like 3 days ago. I drove to my dads on the highway and was up to 160km/h and could have went faster ....I like the power this car has and i love the way it hugs the road!!! very happy with my new car.

oohhh. chevy lovers are good at talking out there asses...but all the brand loyal to the death people are dumbasses.

i'd be careful if you run into a boosted GAGT. i've seen timeslips of those things running bolt ons in the 11's. stock they aren't great.

Nope. He lost. His car had 53k not 160k. My Taurus has 160k, or had I sold it for 2500. Still running great to. My buddy thinks his car is the fastest thing out there. Hes also an idiot, a chevy lover at that.

no wonder why he lost. seems pretty stupid.

i got my GAGT for 1700 with 130k on it. i find it hard to believe a taurus all things equal could own a GAGT considering you have to kick the damn thing down everytime you hit a slight grade.
