I agree with Joe's conclusion, just not with how he got there. The bible was written in greek (even though Mr. Jesus spoke aramiac, and probably didn't know a word in greek), it was then translated into Latin. But, since we have so many greek manuscripts (which for instance prove that the infamous story of the women taken in for adultery and you know the rest, was a later interpolation), much of the bible comes from the orginal language it was written in (greek).
