Since everyone likes to name drop what "brought them here", I guess I'll give a shout out to the original MTV's "120 Minutes".

I think it's a little bit more than that, though. This song speaks to people who still have a strong connection to their 'inner child'. We all know that nightlights don't think or communicate, but imagining that one COULD sing a song like this might be enough to make even a grown-up smile. I mean, a singing nightlight...? Shaped like a blue canary, no less...? That's so cute and harmlessly ridiculous that you almost can't help smiling!

It's not just about the nightlight, though. It's about the joy of being able to look at things from a whimsical point of view. :) Which you already get, but I'm just saying it because so many people don't.

the 80's and 90's were such a magical time, when apparently everyone on earth just ran out of fucks to give and decided to be as radical as ever!

This song's about a nightlight from the point of view of a nightlight. The picture opposite the nightlight in the outlet by the light switch is of a lighthouse which stood on rocky shores to keep ships from wrecking in the fog, thus it's the nightlight's primitive ancestry. The nightlight would be fired if that were it's job because it isn't bright enough. They actually have a blue canary-shaped nightlight for sale on Think Geek that I want just to make people ask questions.
