    Thanks for posting this, I saw it some years ago when it was broadcast on the BBC, and I was absolutely mesmerised by it. The part with the washing-up fish was particularly memorable; I think of it every time I wash up!

    how will the villagers do in winter when it maybe too cold to go to the canals which may also be frozen - to wash things like veggies in this segment?

    I see (from your feed) that NHK blocked the first part of this documentary. Would you be able to re-upload it? (PRETTY PLEASE?) It seems to help if you flip the image, a lot of people do that on here.
