yes, they are destructive pests from the economic viewpoint of forestry.
but many kinds of bugs are attracted to the tree sap exuded from the damages caused by longhorn beetles.
in other words, various lives rely on longhorn beetles in the natural ecosystem.
thx 4 watchin!

このときは何回飛び立ってもすぐに近くの電気スタンドにぶつかって墜落してしまいました...。
触角が片方ちぎれているので、もしかしたらバランスが取りにくいのかもしれません。

i have observed once the mating of flower longhorn beetles.
watch?v=MRUdMoEwUTk
this case looked like a peaceful consensual sex, 'cause all of their antennae were intact.
but flower longhorn's jaw may not be so strong to inflict a wound.

wow, i did not know longhorn's mating is so rough and violent.
thank you!
i had a feeling that damaged antennae are not rare among longhorns in the wild.
here is another example (my vid featuring a different species whose antenna was also severed);

I think that's not the cause of predator. Longicorn (Longhorn or Cerambycidae) beetles use to cut their 'horns' off during their period of copulation.

definitely not.
his antenna was already damaged when i caught him in the field.
i dunno what (predator?) caused the injury.
thanks for watching.
