I love everything about this movie, especially his pacing

The 3 hours felt like an half-hour.

I was about to ask the guy sitting next to me why this great movie was so short but then I noticed that the theater was half- empty. Almost every body had left... DUMB SHITS

Unbelievably beautiful and moving....visually and audibly. Marisa and Ryan at their most gorgeous--Kubrick at the height of his genius....the film leaves me shattered.

Thanks for this comment as you say the production values and music are unbeatable but it is an English view of the the Irish (listen to the tone and what Michael Horden - the Narrator says about Barry who is shown and "proved" to be a hapless ner do well - I loved Michael Horden (see his performance in the Bed Sitting Room) but hated him for this and the dismissive tone he adopts which is actually the authors also...

I watched the movie some days ago. I was not as smitten by it like many of you here, but I adored all the music tracks and how skillfully they were implemented.
