I live in Birmingham UK and I love it...everyone says "how do you cope being a minority in your own country?"...We have the best cheapest balti houses in the country, it's refreshing to hear an indian, african or chinese accent after hearing the brummie accent all day, there are beautiful mosques all over the city, you see people walking around in Saris and Bishts and Thobes and Shalwar Kameez and turbans and african dress. It's really cool actually.

Actually, I just looked it up...between 1954 and 1994 the Dems controlled both houses except for the Republicans having the Senate 1981-1987.

True enough but if it weren't for the Republican years (I used to be a Republican but a lot of them make me sick too) , I think Europe is where we'd be. Unfortunately, especially considering what happened just yesterday, Europe is exactly where we're headed. We're closing in fast in a race to moral and economic ruin.

More true, but still, most of tht imbalance is in the 60s-early 70s when it was Democratic. Congress has been balanced during the last 30, and often has been the opposing party from the president. Really, we have had a centrist government, and not at all to the left compared to Europe, for instance.
