They're often busy noisy places when they're open, but what happens when a railway station is closed? Well that happened many times over when the infamous Dr Beeching swung the axe in the 1960s. While many stations have been demolished, some have survived as private houses. In the latest in our 'On the Right Track series', Transport Correspondent Peter Plisner has been to Shropshire to a dis-used station in an idealic setting.

    What a great place to live. I remember holidaying in camping coaches at Sandsend in the 1950's, the station was still in use at that time too.
