Four architecture offices, BIG, INABA, MAD, and Mass Studies have joined forces to create four urban proposals for the city of Ansan, South Korea. The project, curated by Jeffrey Inaba, will be exhibited at Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art from December 17th 2008.

At first glance, these proposals represent a new urban plan for the city: a suite of would-be iconic and monumental new buildings. Yet the proposals also function at a different scale: in the gallery itself, the models used to advertise each project take on a new role, as furniture for the gallery space.

I think you guys just say this is ugly because you know something about architecture and are afraid of being tricked by the flashyness and glamor. the truth is that this sais next to nothing about the architecture, so I find it impossible to take a stand on whether I like it or not. It only presents the project how it would look when you fly through it in an imaginary hovercar. Like clouds; an abstract fantasy landscape without scale or materiality.

I felt like my eyes were being raped. These are the ugliest buildings I have ever seen. If they make this neigborhood it will be the ugliest neigborhood in the world. The guy who designed these buildings was trying to make them look ugly and rape your mind. I felt like I was being raped and attacked when I watch this disgusting video.

first two are just a bastardization of things that were already done so not really cool nor original nor worth while.

the weird lamps dont look appealing at all epic fail i say.

the Robotic towers are kinda cool somewhat feasible but not really economical and living in them might be strange. But why did the designer think that change in altitude is important or interesting. I would just stay at a certain height all the time.

but making models on the computer dont mean anything.
