from 4:10 to 4:23 what you were hearing was an Electric Guitar being run through a KRAMER Distortion pedal which at the time was considered to be a very High tech piece of Equipment. I think the effect was supposed to be mimicking some sort of FUTURE based instrument. Kinda funny don't ya think that after creating that one single distortion peddle the companies founder sold the rights to what became MXR dynacorp from New york, To this day they still are one of the leading makers of Guitar Pedals
