This is me shooting my No. 4 Mk. I* at Bisley range in the UK. I had just timed my friend shooting 5 rounds. He's left handed but still managed to do it in 15 seconds.

Watch the video to see how fast I was. I managed to get a dead center bullseye with one of the shots (probably the first one).

Try it like a WWI Tommy: operate the bolt with the thumb and fore finger and web of hand, operate the trigger with the middle finger. Never take the thumb and fore finger off the bolt.

This is how they made the Germans think they were using machineguns.

I know this technique and only know one person who can do it competently.

Never tried it myself. Will give it a go next time I am on the range.

Not great but all shots where on target. One was a dead centre bullseye (this was at 100 yards). But I would put that down to luck rather than skill.

Stripper clips are the fastest way to reload. Lee Enfield magazine are almost never removed from the rifle - except for cleaning.

    Good video.

During the vast danger in 1940, so few rifles were available to civilians (or owned), the US govt. requested donations from private citizens, and quite a number seem to have been shipped to England.

It's nice that a UK citizen can even own a Mini 14-which must be altered to operate like a bolt action (single shot).

Here we cannot own any kind of firearm. I will move to a developing country where I can have a rifle like the Enfield once I get their nationality. Numerous massacres on civillians happened here that could have been prevented if people had guns.

This is where the Enfield close-on-cocking has it over the Mauser.
