    Of the episodes you have listed, I'd say that "Gun," "Web," "Dove," "Curtain," and "Intruder" were all good but not outstanding (I'd add "That Which Survives" to this category). "Battlefield," "Syndrome," and "Elaan" were (at best) watchable, as were "All Our Yesterdays" and "Spock's Brain" (the latter purely for camp value). The rest of the third season was thoroughly dismal: boring, static stories based on flimsy and nonsensical plots. The first year and a half were best, by far!

    Thank YOU for pointing this out as well! It looks to me like it was very much an unrehearsed slap on the back, or one that was much harder than anyone expected. (It's pretty well known that the cast and crew of Star Trek largely hated Shatner by this time, and these backstage tensions were exacerbated during the awful third season. Happily, though, they mostly seem to have kissed and made up over the last 40-odd years, with the possible exception of George Takei.)
