Making religious/regional/sectarian statements against each other is against our heritage, our culture, upbringing, traditions and constitution. I personally believe that we should stand strongly against it and that's why I started writing my comments here. Forget everything else, at least remember the martyrs of Independence who sought a peaceful united India. Even today our soldiers are laying down their lives for it.. Why can't we stay together? Ironguy, if you could ans me this I will stop.

this the count went from over 100 to 4. and of the 5 of us who started, we were soon reduced to 3. All I want to say is that. there is lots of work to do. We can't expect the gov to everything for us. They never have, never will, may be even can't do it. So those of us who can devote time and energy towards it should work rather than keep cribbing. Some can help monetarily. Others can atleast stop dividing the country by making provocative and derogatory statements about other religions/sects

But have we tried enough. I am sure you and your friends can go to some village near you and take stock of what are their needs. Don't relent till make the civic authorities haven't addressed them. Take on whatever it needs. And then the villagers will see the worth of your education. They can't do it, but you can! And then they would have the will and measure to send their kids to school. How many of us are ready to do it? Right now many hands will go up. But trust me when I was organizing ...

The solution is more rooted at awareness. Can you give the parents the assurance that education is not just a fancy thing which they would have till some class. And how do you expect this kids to compete with the kids from the cities in a nationalized exam framework. What's there future with education. What would say to those parents when they give you real world situations. In the real world, we so many of this problems are intertwined. It's beyond the measure of a citizen to change much!

and what steps do you think one should to take achieve any of these broad points. For example lets take up the first point, "Every child going to school". What policies are going to help in doing that. What socio-economic change(s) are required to make sure that this really happens ... What can you and I do to help the civic authorities with this ?!!

lol what has your government been doing, tell us???? Everything looks broad to you when you don't want to do it. Every child should go to school means just that. If any child is seen outside school during school hours government should take custody of the child until parents give assurance. Every "issue" has many "solutions". You people don't want to do anything and just whine saying you can't do nothing despite being in power. Everything is broad to you

First of all stop branding people. My arguing with you doesn't mean that I am your adversary. I belong to a middle class family and have as many grievances with the gov as you have, may be even more. I am debating the idealogy of some peopel who just keep blaming other people or the government. It's time we take up our responsibility as educated citizens to change the country. I gave up a chance of PhD at Berkeley because I wanted to work with the masses and not the elite. So stop branding me

we don't need more of the same. We have had more than enough of self-proclaiming "great" people. We need people who see reality as it is and connect to real people. We need real leaders who know where the problems lie and deliver effective solutions. The so-called "great" people work for their own personal agenda to loot people's money or to change common people instead of delivering the changes that common people want for themselves.

now replying to your suggested solution. Do you really think that your solution will work ... where will you put the children in custody. Do you have any idea of the type of infrastructure one would need to build for that. Where will that money come from. How would you control quality. Morally too, you can't just take a child away from his parents. Think of a parent in a remote village, the child will have to walk 10 kms to get to school when he doesn't have enough to eat

I am not going to list the things I do here to win arguments. If you want to ask me about specific rules and measures then how about making sure every child goes to school; enforce the anti-corruption laws against corrupt politicians and bureaucrats; stop bias and hatred from the arrogant ruling class; one constitution for all; close politicians' swiss accounts?, higher taxes, cut corruption and spend money on infrastructure and free healthcare?
