Hearing this song again after almost three decades, I was amazed to note how fresh it sounded even today! Yesudas is one of the three singers in India who have/had such a wide range of voice (others being Latha and Rafi). He can sing for a teenager as well as a 90 years old man in the most suitable manner!! Raveendran had the genius to fully exploit the voice range of Yesudas. Although, Bichu Thirumala had scripted some memorable lyrics, this one will stand out as one of his best !!
Yeap, Ravindran could challenge anybody's talent. Its like an arms race. Ravindran cranks it up a notch and Yesudas delivers. Amazing combination which gave some of the timeless classics for Malayalam film music.
aha..i agree Hridayam Devalaym is one of those rare songs where Bichu stands shoulder to shoulder with Vayalar and ONV. Only if he could write all his songs like that.....
Do you know something??Bichu himself said this in an interview in "Nana"..please dont think i am making it up..He was sitting on the terrace trying to write the song...hours passed..nothing happened..finally frustrated he was about to give up..then he noticed the mosquito which was distracting him & sucking his blood out and they were humming this "mosquito music"& a lyricist like Bichu got the spark..he started writing."otta kambi nadam mathram moolum" which was very meaningful to the context..
